There’s a moment in every mascot commission when everything clicks into place.
The sketch is approved. The fabric is cut. And the character sitting on my workbench a football-helmeted bird, a woolly mammoth, a medieval knight stops looking like a pile of fleece and starts to take shape.
That’s what mascot headcovers do that nothing else quite manages. They don’t just represent a team. They carry a whole story - a school, a stadium, a Saturday afternoon that someone still talks about thirty years later.

What Makes a Mascot Commission Different
Most of my headcovers begin with a photo. A beloved dog, a partner’s face, a beloved pet who passed. The reference is personal and specific.
Mascots bring a different kind of pressure. The reference already exists. People know what this character looks like. They have feelings about it.
My job isn’t to copy it. It’s to translate it to take something designed for a six-foot foam costume or a flat graphic and rebuild it as a small, tactile, expressive character that fits over a golf club.

How a Mascot Commission Works

Stage one: Everything starts with a sketch. I study the reference customers send - mascot photos, game-day images, logo artwork  and produce a pencil and colour sketch showing how the character will be translated into fabric. You see it before a single stitch is made.

Stage two: approval. Once the sketch is signed off, I begin construction. When the headcover is complete, I photograph it from multiple angles and send those images for final approval before it ships.
